Result of the week

Barnet County U13s played Brent on Saturday 3rd October in their first game of the season. They were very comfortable in the first half with a stunning goal from Ned wearing his lucky number. The second half was more of a challenge with increased pressure from the opposition. A goal from both teams made the final score 2-1 to Barnet in a weekend where all age groups won.

Man of the match goes to 2 players; Paul (defence) and Mostafa (striker).

Team of the week

Lions U12 Green are team of the week because of their positive attitude towards team mates. The boys encourage each other and rarely criticise players for making mistakes. They are good friends both on and off the pitch and this really makes a difference when they play as a team against better opposition. I recently witnessed the Greens get a great result against a team from a higher division and that's why they get this award.

Player of the week

This is a tough one this week. I've seen continued improvement in attitude and commitment from Lions U8 White and I could choose from any one of them. Nathan, The Sams, The Joes, Zack, Brett, Jamie and Jacob are all a pleasure to work with but Josh just edges in the lead because he has started to add a happy face at training to go with his 100% focus and commitment.

Skill of the week

Jesse is continuing to impress me with his excellent close control of the ball. He is so enthusiastic to play every week and has a big smile on his face in training and matches. You have to love the ball to be able to master it just like the World Cup Brazuca slogan "Love me or lose me!" Lions U9 White have a personal training ball and bring it to every session and match which has helped them improve their skills with 20 minutes training per day.

Training session of the week

Best training session goes to Lions U12 Green. The boys trained hard and played with intensity. The technical session required players to move into space and lose their marker in order to turn with the ball. We also worked on combination play so that players looked for the next pass rather than stand still. This was all put together in a superb one touch passing match. Best goal scored by Louis (assist - George).
